About BuildReview
BuildReview is an independent directory of Australian residential, commercial and industrial builders, backed by real homeowner reviews. We exist to make one of the biggest decisions you'll ever make — choosing a builder — a little less daunting.
What we do
We bring together verified builder profiles from across Australia — their locations, specialties, project sizes and ratings — alongside genuine reviews from the people who've worked with them. You can browse by state, type of work, and project size to shortlist the right team for your build or renovation.
Reviews you can trust
Reviews are written by registered members, one per member per builder. They publish when they're submitted and are moderated after the fact, so anything fake or abusive gets pulled. We don't accept payment to change ratings, and builders can't remove honest feedback. Our goal is a directory homeowners can rely on and builders are proud to be listed in.
BuildReview is operated by BuildReview Pty Ltd. Have feedback or want to claim your business? Get in touch.
Where can you read reviews of Australian home builders?
There are three practical places: the builder's own Google listing, general consumer review sites like ProductReview.com.au, and independent builder directories such as BuildReview.
Google reviews give you volume, but they mix trade suppliers and walk-ins with actual clients, and a display-home visit gets weighted the same as a two-year build.
A builder directory is more useful when you're comparing: every profile here puts the location, the type of work, the BuildReview rating and the builder's Google rating on one page, so you can line up a shortlist without opening ten tabs.
Whatever you read, check the builder's registration with your state's building regulator before you sign anything. No review site is a substitute for that.
How is BuildReview different from Google reviews?
Every BuildReview profile shows two separate numbers: the rating from reviews written by our members, and the builder's own Google rating with its review count. We never merge the two into one score.
Our reviews come from registered members, one review per member per builder, and a star rating on its own isn't enough — you have to write something.
Reviews go live on submission and are moderated after the fact. Anything fake or abusive gets pulled, and a builder can't have honest feedback removed.
The Google figure is shown as-is, attributed to Google, so you can see when a strong Google score rests on a handful of reviews.
Is BuildReview an independent builder directory?
Yes. Nobody pays to be listed, to rank higher, or to have a rating changed, and BuildReview isn't a lead-generation service that sells your details to builders.
Listings start from public business data — name, address, contact details and the builder's Google rating — which is why a builder can appear here before they've ever heard of us.
Builders can claim their listing and correct their details, but claiming a profile doesn't give anyone editing rights over reviews.
Spotted something wrong on a profile, or a builder we're missing? Tell us and we'll fix it.
